2019 Porsche 911 Speedster confirmed for production. Surprise!

In a surprise to no-one, the Porsche 911 Speedster concept is heading into production next year, with just 1,948 to be made.

The production limit references the year Porsche’s first car, the 356, was released.

For the Paris Motor Show, Porsche displayed a red version of the 911 Speedster Concept – the original shown in Geneva was silver.

The Paris car is mechanically identical the Geneva car, but has a red body and 21″ wheels. Both have bodies based on the 911 Carrera 4 Cabriolet with carbonfiber fenders and hoods, shortened windscreen and sides windows, a tonneau cover instead of soft top, and double bubble carbonfiber rear.

The chassis is taken from the 911 GT3, and 3.8L naturally aspirated H6 makes 500hp (373kW) and revs up to 9,000rpm.
