2018 Volkswagen Atlas R-Line: Sportier looks, but still really boring

The 2018 Volkswagen Atlas R-Line is a sports look package for the VW’s big new SUV, and despite the additions its still very boring to look at.

The Volkswagen Atlas R-Line will debut at the Detroit Auto Show this January, and will be available on SE and SEL trims in the US.

The Atlas R-Line package includes 20-inch twin spoke wheels, R-Line badges, new sportier front and rear bumpers, and a glossy black rear diffuser and side skirts.

The interior has stainless steel pedal covers, R-Line badges on the steering wheel, and a R-Line specific startup screen for the infotainment system.

Like other Atlas models, the R-Line is available with a 235hp turbo 4-cylinder or a 276hp 3.6-liter VR6. Both have an 8-speed automatic and FWD as standard, with AWD available on the V6 models.

The Volkswagen Atlas goes on sale in spring 2017, but the R-Line won’t be available until later in 2017.
