Approval from the California Air Resources Board (CARB) has been published online, and shows that like the regular Spark hatch, the Activ will be available with a 1.4-liter 4-cylinder engine with 98hp (73kW) and 94 lb-ft (127Nm).

This is paired to either a 5-speed manual or CVT. Approval for the 2017 Chevrolet Spark and Spark Activ was granted on June 2.

AutoGuide says that the Spark Activ name has been trademarked in the US, but EPA has yet to be finalized. GM gave no comment.

In India, the third generation (M300) Spark is sold as the Beat, and recently received a facelift that brings it into line with corporate Chevrolet style. To go along with this, Chevy India also unveiled the Beat Activ (above), which previews a soft roader version of the hatch. The Chevrolet Spark Activ for the US should have similar changes to it.
