Subaru Levorg: What does its name mean?

Starting in 2015, Subaru began selling the Levorg outside of Japan, but what does the name of this WRX-based wagon actually mean?

The name Levorg sounds like it might be something mechanical, something artificial, or something related to cyborgs. Unfortunately, the reality is a little duller.

Levorg is actually a contraction of the words Legacy, revolution and touring.

We’re not sure how much sense the name makes, given that the wagon (or tourer in some markets) is actually based on the smaller Impreza and it’s not exactly revolutionary in any way, but Subaru says that it’s meant to bridge the gap between the much larger Legacy sedan and Impreza.
