Seat Ateca: Spain’s first SUV takes aim at Nissan Qashqai

The Seat Ateca, the Spanish brand’s first SUV, is sized to compete with the popular Nissan Qashqai, amongst others in the compact crossover class.

The new Ateca measures 4.36m (171.7-in) in length, or just 10mm shy of the Nissan Qashqai. Trunk space is said to be 510L (18 cu-ft) in FWD models, and 485L (17.1 cu-ft) in AWD models.

Under the hood, the Ateca is powered by a range of Volkswagen TSI turbo-gas and TDI turbo-diesel engine ranging from 85kW (115PS) through to 140kW (190PS). The Ateca will be available in both front- and all-wheel drive, and with manual and dual-clutch transmissions.

Available tech includes LED headlights, an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, traffic jam assistant, emergency braking assist, traffic sign recognition, blind spot monitoring, rear traffic alert, and surround view cameras.

The company hopes that the new Ateca will boost the brand’s sale by 25 percent in Western Europe.
