2017 Nissan Armada is a facelifted, rebadged Nissan Patrol for the US

Days after a forum leak, Nissan revealed the second generation Armada at the 2016 Chicago Auto Show. And, yes, it’s an American Patrol.

The new North American Armada is now no longer based on the Titan pickup, and is now merely a facelifted and updated Patrol.

This brings it back into line with the Infiniti QX80 (formerly the QX56), which started out life in 2004 as an Armada with a different nose and badging, but shifted in 2010 to become the luxury cousin of the global Patrol, much in the way the Lexus LX560 is a glorified Toyota Land Cruiser.

The new Armada is slightly smaller overall, but has a more powerful 5.6-liter Endurance direct injection V8 with 390hp (291kW) and a 7-speed automatic. It can tow up to 8,500 lb (3,855kg) and seats eight people.

There are three trim levels (SV, SL and Platinum), and RWD and 4WD versions are available. Available tech includes an 8-inch touchscreen, heated seats, 13-speaker Bose audio system, blind spot monitoring, lane departure warning, and smart cruise control.
