ND Mazda MX-5 unveiled as shorter than NA/NB

The new ND Mazda MX-5 has been finally unveiled and it’s shorter than both the NA and NB editions of the iconic Japanese roadster.

At three gala events, Mazda has unveiled the fourth generation MX-5/Miata/Roadster to the world. It’s keeping drivetrain details close to its chest for now, but the rumourmill is suggesting that there will be a 1.5- and 2-litre versions available.

All models will feature direct injection and electric power steering — both firsts for the Japanese roadster. We also know that the new car will be available with a 6-speed manual, with a 6-speed auto likely too.

The front suspension is via double wishbones, while a multi-link setup is used at the rear. The new car will tip the scales around 1,100kg mark thanks to its aluminium hood, boot and fenders.

More updates to follow shortly.
