2016 Toyota Kijang Innova: Sharper body, better interior, more tech

The body-on-frame Toyota Kijang Innova minivan has been completely redesigned with a sharped looking body, much improved interior and tons more tech.

Under the hood, there’s a new 2-liter gas engine with 139PS and 183Nm (135 lb-ft) that powers the rear wheels either via a 5-speed manual or 6-speed auto.

There’s also 2.4-liter diesel with 149PS. This engine has 342Nm with the 5-speed manual and 360Nm with the 6-speed auto.

Three trim levels are offered in Indonesia: G (Grande), V (Victory) and Q.

The G has standard 16-inch alloys, front airbags, halogen headlights, ISOFIX seat tethering, ABS, electronic brake force distribution, seating for seven, one touch tumbling seats, and drum brakes at the rear.

The top-spec Q has 17-inch alloy wheels, 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, LED ambient lighting, LED headlights, side and curtain airbags, keyless entry, hill assistance control, stability control, climate control, second row trays, keyless entry, and captain’s chairs in the second row.

As with earlier Kijang and Innova models, the new car will exported from Indonesia to other markets in Asia, the Middle East and South America. 85 percent of its parts are produced locally.
