Aston Martin Valkyrie: 6.5L V12 spins to 11,100rpm, makes 1,000hp

The upcoming Aston Martin Valkyrie hypercar will be powered by a new naturally aspirated 6.5L V12 engine made by Cosworth.

The engine spins to 11,100rpm, and makes a staggering 1,000hp (746kW) at 10,500rpm. Peak torque of 740Nm (546 lb-ft) comes at 7,000rpm.

These details are just for the Valkyrie’s V12 engine. In the production car it will be assisted by a hybrid system, which will be detailed at a later date.

The V12 engine is a fully stressed part of the car, and if it’s removed from its midship position there is nothing will be joining the front and back of the car together.

Most of the engine is machined from single pieces of material. Despite avoiding extreme new alloy, the material properties of which over time are unknown, the Cosworth V12 weighs just 206kg (454 lb).
