2021 Peugeot 308 will have plug-in hybrid, maybe electric too

The third generation Peugeot 308 will move onto the EMP2 platform, and it will be available with a plug-in hybrid powertrain.

Jean-Philippe Imparato, head of the Peugeot brand, confirmed the new platform and PHEV powertrain in an interview Automotive News Europe.

Imparato said the new 308 “could perhaps later have a full-electric drivetrain”. The company has already made full electric versions of its 208 and 2008 available, as well as gas and turbo diesel powertrains.

He said “our compact and midsize cars will have plug-in hybrid drivetrains because it’s a smoother way to switch from internal combustion to electric.”
