2021 BMW 330e: Plug-in hybrid confirmed for the US

BMW has confirmed the 330e plug-in hybrid is coming to the US from May 2020 in both rear wheel drive and all wheel drive.


The 330e has a total of 185kW (248hp) and 420Nm (310 lb-ft). The main engine is a 2L turbo I4 with 135kW (181hp) and 350Nm (258 lb-ft), and an electric motor with 80kW (107hp) and 104Nm (77 lb-ft).

It also comes with Xtraboost which gives an immediate 30kW (40hp) boost for 10 seconds when you put the pedal to the metal.

With a 9.1kWh lithium ion battery, the RWD 330e has a 22mi (35km) EV EPA range, and the AWD 330e xDrive has 20mi (32km) EV EPA range.

Max speed in EV mode is 87mph (140km/h), and there’s active protection noise maker that amplifies the electric motor sound at speeds up to 20mph (32km/h).

The 2021 BMW 330e is US$45,545, and the 2021 BMW 330e xDrive is US$47,545.
