The 2020 XV e-Boxer has a 2L H4 gas engine with 110kW (147hp), and a CVT gearbox with a built in 12.3kW (16.5hp) electric motor. It is able to drive on electric power only at speeds up to 40km/h (25mph).

Like all export Subarus, the XV e-Boxer has AWD standard. The lithium ion battery is placed over the rear axle to improve weight distribution and handling.
