2020 Mercedes-Benz CLA: Longer, wider, more aero, better looking

The 2020 Mercedes-Benz CLA has improved looks, a more spacious body, and the latest MFA2 FWD/AWD platform from the latest A-Class.

The car on display at CES 2019 was a CLA250 with a 2L turbo I4 gas engine with 165kW (225hp) and 350Nm (258 lb-ft), and a 7-speed DCT.

When the car launches in May it will be available with a range of turbo gas and diesel engines, 6-speed manual and 7-speed dual clutch transmissions, and the choice of FWD or AWD.

Although the car is significantly larger in all directions, except height, the trunk has actually shrunk. The sleek new body has a coefficient of drag of just 0.23, and its design is inspired again by the CLS.

The CLA has the company’s new MBUX infotainment system, digital instruments, a sporty interior, and the latest technology, including lane keeping assistance, autonomous emergency braking, and Multibeam LED headlamps.
