2019 Nissan Leaf E-Plus / Plus Series: More power, 226mi / 364km range

The 2019 Nissan Leaf E+ (or Plus Series in the US) is the long awaited long range model. Its 62kWh battery has a EPA range rating of 226mi (364km).

That’s up almost 50% over the standard car, which has a 40kWh battery and an EPA range of 151mi (243km). Nissan says the E+’s battery is almost the same size as the 40kWh unit.

In addition to the improved range, the E+ / Plus Series also has a more powerful electric motor, with 160kW (215hp) and 340Nm (250 lb-ft).

The standard car has 110kW (148hp) and 320Nm (236 lb-ft), so the E+ / Plus Series has 45% more power and 6% more torque.

A more powerful 70kW (100kW peak) quick charging system is also available.

The E+ goes on sale in Japan from January 2019, Plus Series goes on sale in the US from spring 2019, and E+ will be available from mid-2019 in Europe.
