2019 SsangYong Korando: Inoffensive SUV to be followed by EV model

As the company responsible for some truly vile designs, the bland and capable 2019 SsangYong Korando crossover is very much welcome.

Okay, the position of the rear door handle is odd, but it’s not an ugly car.

At launch in Europe the Korando is available with a 1.5L direct injection turbo I4 gas engine with 120kW (161hp) at 5,500rpm, and 280Nm (207 lb-ft) between 1,500 and 4,500rpm.

There’s also a 1.6L turbo-diesel I4 with 100kW (134hp) at 4,000rpm, and 324Nm (239 lb-ft) at 1,500rpm.

A full EV version will be launched later.

Although SsangYong made its name with offroaders, the Korando is available in both FWD and AWD. A 6-speed manual and 6-speed auto are available.

Features available include 17″ to 19″ wheels, leather interior, heated front seats, 10.25″ digital instrumentation screen, climate control, lane keeping assistance, automatic high beams, autonomous emergency braking, traffic sign recognition, and reclining rear seats.
