2019 Porsche 911 RSR: Race car gains 4.2L 6-cylinder boxer

The new 2019 Porsche 911 RSR race car will be fitted with Porsche’s largest ever factory 6-cylinder boxer engine, and other detail improvements.

The 2019 911 RSR has a new larger 4.2L H6 engine, which, depending on the restrictor installed, can have up to 515hp (384kW).

The engine is mounted ahead of the rear axle, and powers the rear wheels via a 6-speed constant mesh sequential transmission.

In the RSR’s first update since 2017, the 2019 model also has exhaust pipes that end/exit just ahead of the rear wheels, saving weight and improving aerodynamics with a new rear diffuser.

Safety systems have been improved too.
