2019 BMW X5 xDrive45e: A high performance plug-in hybrid SUV

The 2019 BMW X5 xDrive45e is a performance SUV with plug-in hybrid AWD powertrain giving around 80km (50mi) of emissions free driving.

The powertrain has a 3L I6 turbo gas engine with 210kW (286hp), an electric motor with 82kW (112hp), AWD, an 8-speed auto, and a lithium-ion battery pack. Total system output is 290kW (394hp) and 600Nm (443 lb-ft).

Top speed is 235km/h (146mph), and 0-100km/h time of 5.6s. The X5 eDrive45 can be driven at up to 140km/h (87mph) on electric power alone, and the EV range is around 80km (50mi).

Combined fuel consumption is rated at 2.1L/100km (111.9mpg) in Europe.

Trunk space is reduced by 150L (5.3 cu-ft) to 500L (17.7 cu-ft) with all seats in use, and 1,716L (60.6 cu-ft) with the rear seats folded down.

The X5 eDrive45 has standard 2 axle air suspension and electronically controlled dampers. Integral active steering is optional.
