2016 Chevrolet Malibu starts at $22,500, turbo or hybrid only

The new ninth generation Chevrolet Malibu uncuts most of the competition, is better looking than outgoing model, and is 300lb (136kg) lighter too.


The five tier range starts at US$22,500 for the L, which comes 10 airbags, cruise control, and a 1.5-liter turbo I4 engine.

Next up is the US$23,995 LS that adds a 7-inch MyLink touchscreen infotainment system with CarPlay and Android Auto, and reversing camera.

The mid range LT starts at US$25,895 and has LED daytime running rights and 8-way electric adjustment for the driver’s seat.

Pricing for the Hybrid and Premier models has yet to be released.

All 1.5-liter models have push button start, keyless entry and automatic engine stop/start. LT and Premier models are available with the more powerful 2.0-liter turbo.
