2018 Nissan Qashqai (J11): Coming to the USA from late 2017

Sources have said that the Nissan Qashqai will come to the USA from late 2017 as a 2018 model, and sit below the existing Rouge and Pathfinder crossovers.

Anonymous informants have told The Truth About Cars that Nissan USA will add the Qashqai to its lineup late next year.

The Qashqai and Rogue (X-Trail overseas) are based on the same platform, and look almost identical, but the Qashqai has a 2.3-inch (58mm) shorter wheelbase and 10-inch (254mm) shorter overall length than the Rogue.

Power should come from 4-cylinder gas engines. FWD will be standard, and AWD optional.

Popular in Europe, where it is easily Nissan’s most popular model. The Qashqai is built in Japan, the UK, and Russia, the new SUV should prove popular Stateside.

With the odd name, Nissan should consider renaming the Qashqai for the USA. In some markets (eg. Japan), the first generation Qashqai was sold as the Dualis.
