Volkswagen ditching Das Auto tagline after dieselgate scandal

According to Reuters, Volkswagen will ditch its long running “Das Auto” advertising tagline in the wake of CO2 output and the dieselgate emissions cheating scandals.


Meaning “the car” in German, Das Auto has been ever present in the company’s advertising since 2007 under previous CEO Martin Winterkorn.

The company will reportedly replace Das Auto with just Volkswagen.

A spokesman told Reuters, “Wherever our logo appears in future, it will be backed by the new brand slogan ‘Volkswagen’. The slogan will be rolled out in stages across the world.”
