Buick Regal Tourx wagon/off-roader trademark registered in USA

The Buick Regal Tourx off-road wagon could join the second generation Regal range for the 2017 or 2018 model year.

According to AutoGuide, Buick registered the Tourx and Regal Tourx names on December 16. If the Tourx comes about, it will likely be a wagon variant of the next generation Regal, which is sold as the Opel Insignia in the rest of the world except for China.

Given the “x” in the title, it could even be the Outback-style off-road version of the next generation Insignia/Regal wagon. A current generation version, known as the Opel Insignia Country Tourer (above) is sold in Europe, but isn’t sold in the States.

It’s possible the name could be used on a regular Insignia Sports Tourer wagon (current generation below), but given that America, except for journalists, aren’t really in love with wagons that don’t go off road, the Country Tourer seems the more likely option.

The Opel Insignia B is expected to debut next year and will be probably be a 2017 model in the USA. If the Regal Tourx comes to the States, expect it to be fully imported from Germany.
