Toyota Auris name dropped, Corolla hatch returns to Europe

First Japan dropped the Auris name in favor of the Corolla Sport Hatch, now Europe is abandoning the badge, deciding it too will take E210 as a Corolla.

Although the new hatch was unveiled in March in Geneva as the Toyota Auris, the company has decided to standarize the name of its C segment model throughout the world.

The Auris, sorry, Corolla hatch will go on sale in Europe next year. The Corolla Touring Sports wagon/estate will be launched at the Paris Motor Show in October, and will also go on sale next year. Both the hatch and wagon will be made in the UK.

Previously for Europe the Corolla sedan was made in Turkey, and sold in some EU markets as the Corolla, while the hatch used a different platform, was made in Burnaston, UK, and sold as the Auris.

Some markets, like Australia and New Zealand, sold the Auris hatch as a Corolla, while in the US it was sold as the Scion iM, and then later the Toyota Corolla iM.
