Suzuki Ignis etymology: What does its name mean?

The Suzuki Ignis is a city friendly hatchback, but have you ever wondered what its name means? Hope you’ve got a firehose ready, because you’re going to find out.


Ignis is Latin for fire. We presume Suzuki is hoping to set your heart alight with its funky hatch (at least in its second generation form seen here).

Let’s just hope that the Ignis doesn’t have a self-immolation problem. That would be awful for drivers and passengers, not to mention Suzuki itself.
