Chevrolet Cruze: second-gen car launched in China with DCT

The second generation Chevrolet Cruze has been officially launched in China, and is the first car to utilise GM’s new global compact midsize car platform.

Two petrol engines are available on the Chinese market: a high-end 1.4-litre turbo and a more plebeian 1.5-litre 4-cylinder.

The 1.4-litre SIDI turbocharged motor develops 110kW (147hp) and 235Nm (173 lb-ft), and is paired with either a 6-speed manual or 7-speed dual clutch transmission.

The entry-level 1.5-litre 4-cylinder has 84kw (113hp) and 146Nm (108 lb-ft) at its disposal. The only transmission offered with it is a 6-speed auto that comes standard with automatic engine start/stop.

Tech available includes the touchscreen MyLink 2.0 entertainment and nav system, blind spot monitoring and automated parking.

Seven variants are offered, and prices begin at 109,00 RMB (US$17,800) and finish up at 169,900 RMB (US$27,700).
