NMS Volkswagen Passat facelift debuts in Dieselgate storm

The timing couldn’t have been worse, but the facelifted North American Volkswagen Passat was unveiled yesterday in New York City.

The revised NMS Passat has a new hood, headlights, grille, front fenders, bumpers, taillights, and trunk lid. High end models come with LED headlights and LED taillights.

Inside the updated Passat is available with heated rear seats, the MIB II infotainment system, and is compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Safety is upped with standard reversing cameras, and optional automatic emergency braking, blind spot monitoring, lane keeping assistance, and automated parking.

For a dash of sportiness, the North American Passat is available as an R-Line model. The R-Line has a sportier front fascia, 19-inch alloys and 235/40 ZR tires.

Engines for the 2016 Passat include a base 1.8-liter turbo and a 3.6-liter VR6. A 2-liter turbo-diesel is also listed, but may be part of the company’s stop-sale order on 4-cylinder turbo-diesel cars.
