Mopar etymology: What does its name mean, letters stand for?

Mopar is Fiat Chrysler’s North American umbrella organisation for parts, servicing and after market mods, but what does its name mean?

According to Chrysler, Mopar’s name derives from Motor and Parts.

The Chrysler Group began using the term in 1920s and it was incorporated as a proper brand in 1937. Among enthusiasts, Mopar is a generic term used to describe any vehicle from the Chrysler Group, including those of the Chrysler, Dodge, Plymouth, DeSoto, Ram, Eagle and Jeep brands.
