Mazda CX-3 and diesel engine production begins in Thailand

At a ceremony with around 300 attendees, Mazda has begun production of its small CX-3 SUV at the Auto Alliance factory in Thailand.

The Thai plant is the second production site for the Mazda 2-based crossover vehicle, after the Hiroshima factory which began producing the car in December 2014.

Mazda has also opened a new engine factory in Thailand called Mazda Powertrain Manufacturing Thailand (MPMT). The factory can make 30,000 engines per year and is currently making 1.5-liter turbo-diesel SkyActiv engines for locally made Mazda 2 sedans.
