Lotus Evija etymology: What does its name mean? How is it pronounced?

The Lotus Evija is the first new car developed under the control of Geely, and also the company’s first ever all electric model.

According to Lotus, the name is pronounced “ev-eye-a”, and means the “the first in existence” or “the living one”.

We’re not sure which language it comes from, though. The closest we can find is the name Evija, which is the Latvian equivalent of Eva.

Eva itself is a derivative of Eve, which, according to the Christian Bible was the first woman in existence.
