Lexus will be available in Mexico from Q3 2021

Toyota will begin selling Lexus cars and SUVs in Mexico from the third quarter of 2021, with around five dealerships planned for the brand’s launch.

The dealers will be located in the country’s most densely populated and prosperous areas, namely Mexico City, Monterrey, and Guadalajara.

“We’ve been watching the size of the luxury market [in Mexico] … To be able to provide these amenities and have a strong dealer body, we need a good, solid base of luxury market,” Bob Carter, head of sales for Toyota North America, told Automotive News.

Last year 67,153 luxury cars were sold in Mexico, up 12% from 2017, and accounting for 4.6% of the country’s 1.42 million new car sales.

Toyota entered the Mexican market 17 years ago, and is now the fourth ranked brand.
