Kia Stinger GT420: Pre-production vehicle turned into one off track car

Kia UK decided to turn its pre-production Stinger – used for dealer roadshows, photo shoots and testing – into lighter, more powerful track car.

Instead of being sent to the scrapyard the car was sent to Hyundai’s technical center in Russelsheim, Germany, and had its interior stripped out, and a roll cage, race seats and fire extinguisher installed. The battery was replaced with lithium polymer unit. Total weight savings are around 170kg (375 lb).

A K&N sports air filter, Milltek Sport exhaust and HKS M45il spark plugs were fitted to the 3.3L twin turbo V6, and power was lifted from 272kW (365hp) to 315kW (422hp), and torque raised from 510Nm (376 lb-ft) to 560Nm (413 lb-ft).

A 6 row automatic transmission cooler was also fitted.

The Stinger GT420 rides on 19″ wheels with Pirelli Trofeo R tires that are 235/35 at the front and 265/30 at the back. There’s also lower suspension with Eibach Pro springs, and Brembo brakes.
