Jeep is going to go electric and it will (hopefully) go electric in its own crazy way. The new Wrangler Magneto concept has a 6-speed manual!
The Wrangler Magneto an electric motor with 213kW (285hp) and 370Nm (273 lb-ft), and spins to only 6,000rpm — very low for an electric motor, as they normally spin to 20,000rpm or more. The specs are similar to the 3.6L V6 Rubicon the Magneto is based on.
It has a “normal” clutch, and the motor goes into regenerative mode when the clutch is activated.
The Magneto has four battery packs with a total of 70kWh, which sounds like a lot, but isn’t when the car is being driven off road.
Will Jeep build this? We don’t know, but we hope so!
