2015 Ford S-Max unveiled with 32 seating, boot space combos

Ford has unveiled the second generation S-Max people mover ahead of its debut at the Paris Motor Show.

The second generation Ford S-Max is based on the very delayed and still-yet-to-go-on-sale next generation Mondeo.

Drivetrains confirmed for the new car include 88kW (120PS), 118kW (160PS) and 132kW (180PS) versions of Ford’s 2-litre turbo-diesel motor; the 88kW version is only available with a 6-speed manual. Petrol buyers can choose between the new manual only 118kW (160PS) 1.5-litre turbocharged EcoBoost motor and a 176kW (240PS) 2-litre EcoBoost engine.

The new S-Max will be available in both front- and all-wheel drive, and will go on sale, Ford promises, in 2015.

Both the second and third row seats can be folded away with the touch of a button. All up, Ford claims that there are 32 different seating and luggage space combinations possible in the new S-Max.

Other available features include a panoramic glass roof, LED headlights with automatic high beams, LED driving lights and tail-lights, active grille shutters, automatic engine start/stop, regenerative charging, automated emergency braking, adaptive power steering assistance, automated parking for both parallel and perpendicular spots, as well as automated parking spot exit, blind spot warning, traffic sign recognition, lane keeping assistance, rear cross traffic alert, distance indicators for objects to the side of the car, radar-guided cruise control, kick-to-open tailgate, and voice recognition.
