2021 Maserati Levante Hybrid: Has a tricky, deceptive name

Say hybrid, and you think Toyota Prius, something like can run on electric power, gas engine or a combination. The Levante isn’t that.

The Levante “Hybrid” is actually a 48V mild hybrid, which can coast and shutdown the gas engine in certain situations, but can’t really drive the car. It’s really a more powerful and better automatic stop/start system with a bit of a power boost.

Under the hood, the Levante “Hybrid” has a 2L turbo I4 (nothing says Maserati like a 4 cylinder!) with 246kW (330hp) and 450Nm (332 lb-ft).

Performance is okay though. It has an 8-speed auto, and AWD standard. The 0-100km/h time is 6s, and it has a top speed of 240km/h (149mph).
