2021 BMW i4: 4-Series Gran Coupe goes electric to tackle Tesla Model 3

The 4-Series Gran Coupe liftback is back, but this time it’s all electric and has a big (ugly) fake grille because branding.


Not built on a dedicated EV platform, the i4 uses a modified version of the CLAR architecture shared with all other RWD/AWD ICE models.

There are two models are launch: the entry level eDrive40 has a 250kW (335hp) and 430Nm (317 lb-ft) an electric motor for the rear wheels.

It has a 0-100km/h time of 5.7s, a top speed of 190km/h (118mph), and 590km (367mi) WLTP range.

The performance model is the M50 which has two motors making a total of 400kW (536hp) and 795Nm (586 lb-ft).

This AWD model has a 0-100km/h time of 3.9s, a top speed of 225km/h (140mph), and 510km (317mi) WLTP range.
