The highlight of the new Yaris GR is he absolutely mad 1.6L turbo I3 (the most powerful road going I3 engine in the world) with 200kW (268hp) and 370Nm (273 lb-ft) with AWD and a 6-speed manual. It has a 0–100km/h time of 5.2s, and an electronically limited top speed of 230km/h (143mph). The regular Yaris hatch will be available with 1L and 1.5L I3 gas engines, and a 1.5L I3 hybrid.

The roof of the 3-door Yaris GR slopes down aggressively, and the passenger doors are longer, but the overall style is the same.
