2020 Toyota Corolla sedan: 169hp 2L engine only for SE, XSE

The 2020 Toyota Corolla will still use the 1.8L engine 2ZR-FAE I4 engine in the L, LE and XLE models, although with a few more horsepower.

If you want the much better 2L Dynamic Force direct injection I4, you’ll have to buy the sportier looking SE and XSE (pictured). The 2L engine makes 169hp (126kW) at 6,600rpm and 151 lb-ft (205Nm) at 4,800rpm.

Gearbox choices are a 6-speed manual or a Dynamic Shift CVT with a physical first gear for improved acceleration and less of the awful clutch slurring CVT feel.

Like the already available Corolla hatch the new Corolla sedan rides on the TNGA GA-C platform, and has a stiffer body, less weight, lower center of gravity, and improved handling.

Apple CarPlay, Amazon Alexa and an 8-inch touchscreen are available, as is a SiriusXM, and an 800W 9-speaker JBL audio system.
