2020 Mazda 3 SkyActiv-X: Gas engine with diesel economy, less NOx

The 2020 Mazda 3 SkyActiv-X saloon has a revolutionary compression ignition engine which drinks gasoline, and has diesel like fuel efficiency.

The new 2L Spark Controlled Compression Ignition Engine has spark plugs for some driving situations, but also has the highest compression ratio for a gas engine. It is paired with a 24V mild hybrid and a 600kJ lithium ion battery.

Available for order now in the UK and Europe, the Mazda 3 SkyActiv-X saloon has a CO2 emissions rating of 96g/km, which translates to 4.1L/100km (57.3mpg).

Prices start from £23,555 (US$30,500) in base Sport trim.
