2019 Nissan Leaf Nismo RC: Double the power, twice the looks

The Nissan Leaf Nismo RC has been updated for 2019 with a new body based on the latest road car, and a massively improved electric powertrain.

The 2019 Nissan Leaf Nismo RC has two electric motors making a total of 240kW (322hp) and 640Nm (472 lb-ft). That’s more than double what was available with the first generation Leaf Nismo RC, which was unveiled in 2011.

The AWD system independently manages power delivered to each axle. The batteries are placed in the middle of the car, while the electric motors and inverters are placed over the axles.

The Leaf Nismo RC has a carbonfiber monocoque structure, weighs just 1,220kg (2,690 lb), and can zip from 0 to 100km/h in 3.4 seconds or 50% faster than the old model.

The race car has removable front and rear sections, an adjustable rear wing, fixed side windows, and LED headlamps and taillamps.
