2019 Honda Pilot vs 2016-2018: Facelift differences & changes comparison

The third generation Honda Pilot has been given a facelift and update for the 2019 model year. See the changes between it and the 2016, 2017 and 2018 model.

The body of the third generation is untouched, but the front end has been restyled to be more like the 10th generation Civic and Accord.

The grille still stretches like a pair of bull horns or 'flying wings' into the headlight units. The new grille design doesn't feature horizontal chrome slats, but a U-shape. The front bumper has also been redesigned and simplified.

The 3.5-litre V6 is unchanged, and still makes 280hp (209kW) and 262 lb-ft (355Nm). A 6-speed auto is standard in the LX, EX and EX-L, while the 9-speed auto in the Elite and Touring has been retuned. AWD is optional, and FWD is standard, although the range-topping Elite is AWD only.

Changes to the rear are less dramatic, but the Touring and Elite are now available with a hands-free power tailgate for the first time.

The rear bumper has been lightly redesigned, and the reversing lights now move from the bumper to the tailgate. The taillamps now feature a white section for the indicators too.

Hurrah! Honda's latest 8-inch Display Audio infotainment is standard in the EX and above. It has a glossy screen, a more modern interface, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility. There's also reworked air vents with more realistic fake metal.

The steering wheel is new, but doesn't look it, and has simplified controls. The instrumentation cluster now features a wider 7-inch user configurable display with electronic speedometer and tachometer read outs, and the physical instruments have been redesigned too.

The revised Pilot is available with either seven or eight seats, depending on whether you specify middle row captain's chairs.
