2018 Porsche Cayenne: Looks the same, has new platform, V6 turbo only

The third generation Porsche Cayenne looks the same as the first two, but it uses the MLB Evo platform, and the base and S models have turbo V6 engines.


Only the Porsche Cayenne and Cayenne S will be available at the SUV’s launch. V8, plugin hybrid, and diesel models will come later.

The Cayenne has a 2.9-liter V6 with a single turbo, and 250kW (340hp) and 450Nm (332 lb-ft). It has a 0-100km/h time of 6.2s (5.9s with the optional Sport Chrono Package), and a top speed of 245km/h (152mph).

The Cayenne S has a twin turbo version of the 2.9-liter V6 with 324kW (440hp) and 550Nm (406 lb-ft). It has a 0-100km/h time of 5.2s (4.9s with Sport Chrono Package), and a top speed of 265km/h (165mph).

Standard features on both models include a lighter body (65kg/143lb lighter), AWD, LED headlamps and taillamps, rear wheels that are wider than front wheels, 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, and an 8-speed automatic.

Available features include rear wheel steering, 4D chassis control, air suspension, electronic roll stabilization, active LED headlamps with glare control and sign detection, and wheels from 19 to 21 inches.

Both the Cayenne and Cayenne S are available for order now in Europe. In Germany, the Cayenne is €74,828 (US$88,100), and the Cayenne S is €91,964 (US$108,200).
