2017 Honda Civic 5-door hatch: 1.5-litre turbo sole engine in US

The 5-door FC Honda Civic hatchback has been revealed in its final production form, in Sport Touring trim, ahead of its debut in the US soon.


The new Honda Civic hatch will be available in the US in five trim levels: LX, Sport, EX, EX-L, and Sport Touring. All are powered by a 1.5-liter DOHC direct injection turbocharged 4-cylinder engine.

In the LX, EX, and EX-L trims the 1.5-liter engine makes 174hp (130kW) and 162 lb-ft (220Nm). In the Sport, and Sport Touring grades the engine makes 180hp (134kW) and 162 lb-ft (220Nm).

A CVT is offered in all models, while a 6-speed manual is available in the LX, Sport, and EX trims.

The expected EPA fuel economy figures are 31/40/34 mpg (city/highway/combined) for the CVT equipped models. That’s 7.6L/100km, 5.9L/100km, and 6.9L/100km in metric.

Available safety technology includes emergency braking, forward collision warning, lane keeping assistance, adaptive cruise control, and road departure mitigation.

Other available features in the Civic hatch include touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, heated front seats, heated mirrors, electric front seats, and remote engine start.
