2016 Chevrolet Cruze hatchback to be sold in the US

According to Automotive News, a second generation version of the Chevrolet Cruze hatchback will be sold alongside the new sedan in 2016.

GM has shown a hatchback version of the next generation Cruze to US Chevy dealers. The car was described as a 2016 model car, but they did not elaborate on when the car will be sold.

The second generation Chevrolet Cruze for the US market will be unveiled tomorrow (June 24, 2015). A version of that car with different styling is on sale in the China right now.

The first generation Cruze was sold in Europe, Australia and China as a hatchback, but the car was not brought to the US. Mark Reuss, GM’s product chief, said this was “a pre-bankruptcy planning mistake.”

The new Cruze hatchback will take on the Volkswagen Golf, Ford Focus, Hyundai Elantra GT and the next generation Honda Civic.
