2016 BMW M5 Competition Edition: Euro-only model with 600hp/441kW

Based on the Competition Package, the BMW M5 Competition Edition is limited edition Euro-only model with a more powerful 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 gas motor.

The engine in the BMW M5 Competition Edition now has an extra 29kW (40hp) and 20Nm (15 lb-ft), bringing total output to 441kW (600hp) and 700Nm (516 lb-ft), making it the most powerful M5 to date.

Just 200 Competition Edition M5s will be made, with 100 to be made in white, and the remainder in black.

The rest of the car is pretty much carried over from the Competition Package, so there’s firmer suspension that’s 10mm (0.4-in) lower, a retuned Active M differential, revised steering mapping, and sportier stability control settings.

The M5 Competition Edition also has 20-inch forged alloy wheels, and 265/35 front tires and 295/30 rear tires.

American customers shouldn’t feel too angry about the Europe-only nature of the Competition Edition, as they will get the M5 Pure Metal Silver limited edition instead. It’s basically the same thing, but with different paint options. 50 of these will be made for the US market.
