2015 Opel Astra wagon: More conventional style, more space

The Opel Astra Sports Tourer wagon has a more conventional D-pillar design than the hatch, but swallows a much bigger load.

With high strength steel and other lightweighting measures, the new Astra wagon is said to be up to 200kg (440lb) lighter than the old car.

The rear seat can be folded 40/20/40, and there’s an optional FlexOrganizer product that includes side rails, dividing nets and fasteners.

A range of diesel and gas engines spans the range from 95hp/70kW through to 200hp/147kW. This includes a new 1.6-liter direct injection turbo-diesel with 200hp/147kW and 221 lb-ft/300Nm.

Order books open in Germany from October 10, 2015. The biggest markets for the new wagon will be Germany, the UK and Italy. Throughout Europe, the Astra wagon accounts for 30 percent of sales.
