2020 Ford Focus to be built in China, instead of Mexico, for the USA

With sales of small cars falling, and the Focus’ popularity in the US dropping, the fifth generation Ford Focus sold in the US will be built in China.

Before Trump won the presidency, Ford was building a US$1 billion factory in Mexico to make the Focus and other models for the US market.

After Trump was sworn in, the factory was scrapped in what seemed like a victory for the new president.

Instead, Ford will now import the Focus range from China for the US market. Winning.

The Focus’ current factory will still be retooled for the Ranger and Bronco. The current Focus stops production in 2018, and the new Focus won’t be produced in China until 2019.
