2017 Renault Koleos: Larger second-gen SUV more off-roader like

The second generation Renault Koleos has significantly bigger and taller than the first generation model, and has more off-roader style features too.

The new Koleos has a design that’s heavily influenced by the latest Renault models, like the Talisman, Espace and Megane, but is squarer and styled to look more like an off-roader than any previous Renault car.

Dimensions have been greatly increased, and the new Koleos will be positioned as the brand’s flagship SUV in the years to come. All-wheel drive is available, and a selection of turbocharged 4-cylinder gas and diesels will be available under the hood with power ranging from 130hp to 175hp (96kW to 127kW).

Two transmissions will be available: a 6-speed manual or an X-Tronic CVT.

The interior is available with a large panoramic sunroof, the R-Link 2 infotainment system with either a 7-inch landscape screen or 8.7-inch portrait screen, and a 12-speaker Bose audio system.

Based on the Renault-Nissan Alliance CMF-C/D architecture, the new Koleos is related to the Renault Espace, Talisman, and Kadjar, and Nissan’s X-Trail/Rogue and Qashqai.

The new Koleos will be built in China for local consumption, with the rest of the world’s supply coming from Renault-Samsung’s factory in Busan, South Korea.

The Koleos goes on sale in Q3 2016 in Australia, Turkey, the Gulf States, and some African and Latin American markets. In Q4 2016 it will go on sale in China, while Europe and Russia have to wait until early 2017.
