Opel will return to the Japanese market in 2021. The initial range will consist of the Corsa hatch, Grandland X SUV, and Combo Life small minivan.
In Japan Opel will be represented (and probably sold alongside) Group PSA brands (Peugeot, Citroen and DS). Group PSA sold 15,600 cars in Japan in 2019.
The Corsa will be available as a pure EV (Corsa-e), and the Grandland X will be available a plug-in hybrid.
With most of the Opel range now based on PSA platforms, the brand has been increasing its international presence. It has returned to Russia and South America, and entered Columbia with plans to enter 20 more markets by 2022.
By the mid 2020s, Opel is planning to have non European markets account for 10% of its sales.
