Hyundai Accent Hatch axed in Canada: Discontinued at end of 2020

The Hyundai Accent is leaving the Great White North at the end of the 2020 model year, leaving the Venue SUV as the company’s smallest car.

Although the Venue (starting at C$17,099) is more expensive than the Accent (starting at C$14,949)

The Accent sedan was axed in Canada in 2019, and the hatch will see out 2020 but then will be no more. You can blame SUVs again.

Although the Accent Hatch was popular in Quebec, sales are down 59% to 1,362 in the first six months of 2020. The Venue sold 3,022 in the same time.

Since September 1994, Hyundai has sold an amazing 462,494 Accents in Canada, and the car was number 1 in the subcompact segment from 2009 to 2017.

The Accent sedan remains on sale in the US for now. The hatch was never offered here.
