Fiat 500 axed in the USA despite being the brand’s best seller

Due to slow sales the Fiat 500 has been axed in the USA, but the 500X crossover and 500L mini-minivan will continue to be sold here.

The 500 hatch, 500 convertible, and 500e have all been dropped from Fiat USA’s range, leaving the Fiat USA range with just the 500X, 500L and 124 Spider (a reworked Mazda MX-5 Miata).

In 2018, Fiat sold just 5,370 500 hatches in the USA, well down on its best year (2012) when it managed 46,999.

Although the 500 is old, having debuted in Europe in 2007, it is actually the best selling car in the company’s US range!

Last year it beat the 500L (1,413), 124 Spider (3,515), and 500X (5,223).

Supplies of the 500 should see the car available in the USA through 2020.
