Ferrari 296 GTB: First V6 since Dino has plug-in hybrid powertrain

Traditionalists (and many enthusiasts) will hate this new Ferrari, but welcome to the new electric (or electrified) world order!

The new 296 GTB has more power and torque than the F8 Tributo, but also costs more. No surprises there, but it does so with fewer cylinders and an electrified powertrain and an all-EV mode.

The 2.9L twin-turbo V6 plug-in hybrid powertrain makes a total of 610kW (818hp).

Mounted midship, the 2.9L twin-turbo V6 makes 488kW (654hp) and 740Nm (546 lb-ft). Between it and the 8-speed DCT is an electric motor.

The MGU-K has a dual-rotor design, and makes 123kW (165hp) and 314Nm (232 lb-ft). With a 7.5kWh battery, the 296 GTB can be driven in pure electric mode at up to 135km/h (84mph) and for up to 25km (16mi).
